RD: When did you start painting/Drawing??
BASK:
I don't know if I could pin-point my start but i can say that I don't remember a time in my life that I wasn't doing some sort of art. It's something I've always done.
RD: Where are you from??
BASK:
I was born in the Czech Republic and moved to the US in 1984.
RD: Main art influences??
BASK:
My art influences range from everything like Robert Rauschenberg and Andy Warhol to the tags and bombs on city streets.
RD: Do you have to get in the "zone" to paint, or do you just jump right into it??
BASK:
I keep pretty busy so my deadlines usually dictate what "zone" I need to be in. Like most artist though i can get pretty moody at times and don't want to even walk past my studio.
RD: What kind of Music do you listen to??
BASK:
I listen to pretty much everything except country music. Although music that gets more play then others, comes courtesy of people like, Against Me, DJ Shadow, old Wu Tang Clan and Miles Davis.
RD: How did you develop your style??
BASK:
I don't know. I've been drawing and painting for so long that I always looked at it as an evolution rather then something i consciously developed.
RD: Do you have any crazy art gallery moments??
BASK:
Sometimes galleries go under when they still owe me money, that's pretty crazy.
RD: Whats your biggest accomplishment in terms of Art??
BASK:
I'd have to say the moment when my art was able to support me and my adventures. Everything from that point on is just icing on the cake.
RD: Do people ever send you pictures of tattoos of your work??
BASK:
Not so much. I mean I've designed tattoos before for people here and there but to get that surprise, of someone I don't know, getting inked, is rare. I tell you what though, there is no bigger honor for me as an artist then to see that. It's the ultimate compliment.
RD: What do you think of porn??
BASK:
I love porn.
RD: What kind of girls are you into??
BASK:
I don't have a certain type in regards to look but i am into intelligent women with a great sense of humor. Someone who gets things like sarcasm & wit but yet is not afraid to act like a kid at times.
RD: Do you have any "art groupies"??
BASK:
I can't say no but it would just make me sound like an arrogant asshole to say yes to that. I'll just say that i enjoy the support i get from people who connect with what i do.
RD: Any Crazy Sexual Exploits to brag about??
BASK:
Oh ya, definitely and always down for new ones too. But I'm a gentleman, so no bragging from me, sorry.
RD: What do you think of razordolls.com??
BASK:
From what I've seen, its pretty amazing. Its hot girls with tattoos, oozing sex but the fact that artists and musicians also get to be thrown into the mix just makes it that much more perfect.
RD: Who's your favorite razordoll??
BASK:
I'd have to say Jezabelle.
RD: Do you think Porn will ever be an accepted art form??
BASK:
I already think its an art form, when presented as such, but too many people will always see it as taboo. Which, I'd have to say is not a bad thing. If porn was accepted as art on a broad scale, then part of what makes it so appealing and erotic would die.
RD: What upcoming artists should we look out for??
BASK:
Wow, too many to name but people like Tes One, Brandon Dunlap, Andrew Spear, and KGBE Rotgut are just a few that come to mind.
RD: Do you like Horror Movies? If so Whats your Favorite??
BASK:
Not too much. Some of the new ones that have been coming out just stain my brain and I cant shake'em. Pretty soft of me, I know. Although my two favorite ones are The Shining and Session 9.
RD: Whats your opinion on the art scene today??
BASK:
I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, because of the Internet and other networks, its filled with opportunities for literally anybody who wants to be an artist. We live in a day and age where living off of your art isn't unrealistic and experiencing your fame possible. If you know how to promote yourself then it doesn't even matter how good or bad you are. If people see your stuff enough, they'll like your work just for the familiarity of it. Which is why I think it bad too. There's too much going on at once and its getting harder to distinguish between good art and bad art. Or maybe is bad the new good?
RD: Why do you do what you do? What Motivates you??
BASK:
I don't even think I have a choice in the matter. Art is something I have always done and loved, sometimes loved to hate but this will probably never change. It's who I am, so why not make a living out of it.
