RD: When did you start shooting??
Carlos Batts:
In 10th grade I took a photography class and liked it. From that point I started shooting Hardcore/Death Metal bands in the DC, MD, NY, VA area and continued to draw and paint.
RD: Where are you from??
Carlos Batts:
Baltimore
RD: Main influences??
Carlos Batts:
Van Gough, Man Ray, Dali, Picasso, Bacon, Rauschenberg, Gordon Parks, Irving Penn, Todd Browning.
RD: Do you have to get in the "zone" to shoot, or do you just jump right into it??
Carlos Batts:
Every moment is a photograph to me.
RD: What kind of Music do you listen to??
Carlos Batts:
Anything heavy with a beat from Pantera to Tricky.
RD: How did you develop your style??
Carlos Batts:
I love the master painters and wanted to make my photographs into paintings from Cezanne to Picasso, there stories, palette and style were authentic.
RD: Do you have any crazy gallery moments??
Carlos Batts:
All my gallery moments are crazy just because it's a fun to hang your work and see your friends and to get feed back from the work that you do.
RD: What's your biggest accomplishment in terms of Your Art??
Carlos Batts:
Collaborating with my friends, artist, musicians, models and I get to make a living doing what I want to do.
RD: What do you think of porn??
Carlos Batts:
It a genre that could use a face lift.
RD: What kind of girls are you into??
Carlos Batts:
My wife.

Carlos Batts:
No.

Carlos Batts:
I think it's amazing the amount of creativity happening around the world. Technology allows us to communicate and show your work in all kinds of forums both virtual and reality.
RD: What would you say is the biggest problem with society today??
Carlos Batts: Apathy!
