RD: When did you start painting??

Daze: I started painting trains in 1978 even though as a kid I always drew and created my own comic books and stuff. I got into graff when I entered the high school of art and design where there had always been a large concentration of graffiti artists.

RD: Where are you from??

Daze: I'm from New York. Born in Brooklyn but later repping The BX !

RD: Main art influences??

Daze: My influences come from a really wide variety of sources that include music and film. Artistically I would have to say in the begining I loved Marvel comics but later on I discovered Mad magazine and that changed my life. Then I moved onto The underground comics like Zap and discovered the perverse world of Robert Crumb . I guess I was a comic geek in the true sense of the word. My sources didn't end there though. As a kid I went to the brooklyn museum a lot and became interested in a lot of tribal stuff. The museum had this one room filled with gigantic oceanic totems that I marveled at as a kid . Iremember also being influenced by Fritz the cat and Ralph Bakshi films. I hated Disney.

RD: Do you have to get in the "zone" to paint, or do you just jump right into it??

Daze: I don't believe that inspiratipon has to hit you in order to begin working . My ideas come while i'm working . The more I work the more ideas I get.

RD: What kind of Music do you listen to??

Daze: Growing up I listened to stuff like Parliment funkadelic , James Browm , Led Zepplin , sometimes Kiss , stuff like that. Now my sources are just as varied . When I 'm working I like to listen to a lot of jazz and brasilian music . I think that it compliments what I do. When I go Out it all changes . I like stuff like white stripes , iggy pop , The Gossip, Strokes , Zepplin , Notorious B.I.G., Wu tang , more zepplin , a mixture of old and new things.

RD: How did you develop your stylle??

Daze: I guess that my gaff style came about as a mixture of looking at differant people. I looked at what guys like Fuzz one and Noc167 , but I also looked at people like Blade and Tracy168 .I put tose things together and came up with my own imprint. In terms of my drawing and painting style there are too many people to name . I try not to be too concious of having a particular "style". I think that gets in the way of progress.

RD: Do you have any crazy art gallery moments??

Daze: Too many. Art opening are always crazy and unpredictable no matter where they are. I have a pretty eclectic following so its always interesting to see what happen when those people get together.

RD: Whats your biggest accomplishment in terms of Art??

Daze: Thats a difficult question to answer because I think that my accomplishments come in many sizes . I sometimes do art workshops with kids and I get a lot out of helping young kids realize there dreams . I think one of my key moments was in 1988 when I had a show in Monte Carlo and got to see how the other half lives. That whole experience was like something out of lifesyles of the rich and famous. I really felt as If I had arrived at that point > I also designed an entire train station with Crash and Lee in Hannover , Germany . That was pretty incredible.

RD: Do people ever send you pictures of tattoos of your work??

Daze: No, but i've designed a few and gotten a lot of requests.

RD: What do you think of porn??

Daze: I love porn . I used to do covers for Screw magazine and Hustler.

RD: What kind of girls are you into??

Daze: I'm into all kinds of girls . I like girls that have a secret perverted side. I think thats hot.

RD: Do you have any "art groupies"??

Daze: Yeah, there all dudes from like 15 to 40 . Where are all the girl groupies ?

RD: Any Crazy Sexual Exploits to brag about??

Daze: I had sex at an art opening once , but then again who hasn't ?

RD: What do you think of razordolls.com??

Daze: I like Razordolls. I think that it's bring together a lot of the sub cultures i'm interested in. Tattoes , porn , art and music . It's multi-dimensional in it's own way . I hope that it gets bigger and bigger as time goes on.

RD: Whos your favorite razordoll??

Daze: I think it might have to be Cherry Pop ? I think that's her name . Anyway I read her profile and thought it was funny. Plus any chick that likes to get spanked is a big plus in my book.

RD: Do you think Porn will ever be an accepted art form??

Daze: I think that as time goes on People will see that porn is multi dimensional , like graffiti. There is this outlaw aspect to it that draws people in and complless people to check it out but there is another side that can be more aesthetic , even cerebral in some aspects.

RD: What upcoming artists should we look out for??

Daze: I like horror films . I like the Shining, silence of the lambs , phsycological things like that but I also like 60'ds vampire films . I really like The Hunger with David Bowie.

RD: Do you like Horror Movies??

Daze: If so Whats your Favorite??

Daze: The art scene today can sometimes be strange. There are more galleries today than ever , which means more artists are showing , which means there is more money than ever being pumped in. Strangely enough though none of that means there is more great art out there . I like to look at art in which I can see that persons personal view and that has integrity in it. I see too much art out there that is just clever and nothing more.

RD: Whats your opinion on the art scene today??

Daze: I think one of the big problems out there is probably lack of tolerence.

RD: What would you say is the biggest problem with society today??

Daze: Check out my website to see more stuff at www.DazeWorld.com !!

RD: Anything you want to plug, do it here??
