69 EYES drummer JUSSI took time out from his busy touring schedule,(the band just finished a very successful U.S. tour),to talk to us!!Listen, children of the night, as this lost boy talks about rock, success, and gives RAZORDOLLS mad respect!!

"DEVILS", the 7th album of The 69 Eyes is their first release on a big major label Virgin/EMI. Released in their native Finland in October 2004 later on in Europe through Virgin/EMI and in October 2005 in USA through 456 Entertainment it is also their 4th album to reach gold status and again another number one position on the Finnish TOP40 album charts. Combining all their influences from high energy punk to glam and all the way deep down to gothic rock, this album produced by Hiili Hiilesmaa (HIM, Sentenced, Moonspell etc) introduces The 69 Eyes at their very best: loudnproud but with a melancholy soul. Ever since the early 90s The 69 Eyes have been playing like their influences taught them, just like to trust on the unholy combination of black hair, leather jackets and sunglasses after dark - The Ramones, Dead Boys, The Cramps, The Doors, Iggy, Elvis 68 Comeback Special; just to name a few - these days it might be even more simple to tell them to be the missing link between Hanoi Rocks and HIM! Looking at their audience, its definitely easy to tell that we have here a REAL cult band which gathers all the subculture people from goths to black metal kids to teddy boys to glam teens under the same roof - they really ARE the Helsinki Vampires as they call themselves. Headlining European tours and main stage festival appearances at the biggest festivals in Europe like Sziget Hungary, Mera Luna Germany and Live N Louder Rock Festival Mexico & Brazil have always been a proof of the power of kick- ass ROCK - thats what The 69 Eyes do, they ROCK and kick- ass. The 69 Eyes previous album "Paris Kills" (2002, Roadrunner/Poko) has reached platinum in Finland. The 69 Eyes have got gold in Finland also from their three previous albums: "Blessed Be" (2000, Roadrunner/Poko), "Paris Kills" (2002) and "Framed In Blood - The Very Blessed Of..." (their best of compilation, 2003). After the release of "DEVILS", the band has been very busy touring all around Europe, Japan, Russia, South America and in March 2006 finally in the USA. Currently the band is preparing to record their follow- up to highly successful "DEVILS" and also looking for returning to tour more in the USA and play at occasional European rock festivals in the summer 2006.

RD: TELL ME A SHORT BIO OF THE 69 EYES ..HOW YOU ALL MET.ETC.

Jussi: We all share the same passion for what we do,passion for rock n roll adventure. So we all got to know each other through that.None of us is found through an "guitar player needed" ad or shit like that.We wanted to write and play the music we love but nobody was doing it at the time,it felt like the rest of the world was into Pearl jam and grunge and being miserable those days(it was early 90 s).We wanted to party, tour the world and rock!!So we kept doing our trashy glampunk which kinda turned into bit darker during the years but most of all, we didn t give a fuck what anyone would say or what trend was cool at the time. Anyway, what a ride it s been and we feel like we re just getting started!!

RD: WHAT ARE /WERE MAIN MUSICAL INFLUENCES??

Jussi: All the cool stuff from 70 s punk rock(Ramones,Dead Boys,Misfits..)to 80 s shit(Motley Crue,Hanoi Rocks,L.A.Guns,Billy Idol...)to goth stuff(Sisters of mercy...).We are influenced by all this from Elvis to vampire movies but still i m proud as fuck to say that our sound is unique and there s no band out there that sounds like us.

RD: HOW IS THE FINNISH ROCK SCENE??

Jussi: I hate to use cliches like," it s one big family", but it s true!!Everybody basically knows each other and are friends with everybody. There s shit loads of amazing bands and i ve never noticed jealousy or shit like that.

RD: IS THERE A CERTAIN "SCENE" BASED AROUND THE DARKER BANDS???(YOU GUYS,..H.I.M.ETC).

Jussi: I guess that when you look at it from the outside it really looks like a scene.Finland is such a small country and like i said there s many, many good bands in there...and being "dark",it s very natural for finnish people, even the pop bands in Finland has that melancholic, dark twist in them,it s in our blood.

RD: HOW DID YOU LIKE THE U.S WHEN YOU RECENTLY PLAYED HERE??

Jussi: It really was a dream come true!!Been there many times watching shows in places like Whisky in Hollywood thinking that i wanna play here,so it was about fucking time!We had amazing crowds everywhere, sold out many cities and we ve had a strong fan base there since years and they had been waiting for so long to see us too.It felt like coming home thanks to our awesome fans...i love you!!

RD: HOW DID YOU HOOK UP WITH BAM???

Jussi: I met him for the first time backstage at the HIM show(surprised?!)like 5 years ago.I didn t know who the fuck he was but i loved him cause he was a mess and drunk and funny.Later on i got to know that he was very much into our band and had used our songs in his movies like CKY.Anyway,we kept meeting in weird places and partying like there s no tomorrow and every time we got drunk we kept talking about working together someday which finally happened when he directed our video LOST BOYS,we filmed that in Philly and Hollywood and man that was sooo much fun!!He s the coolest guy i know,i love him!!
