Interview with Chris and Strange? From Trashcan Darlings.:



RD: when did you start th band

Chris: I hooked up with Strange? in '94. We spent a year drinking and getting a band together and had our first gig at the end of '95

Strange?: We pretty much kept on drinking for 3 or 4 more years, but since 99/00 that band has been both musically and visually as it is today

RD: where are you from??

Chris: Oslo, Norway (Scandinavia for those not familiar with this part of the world)

RD: main influences??

Chris: Not really... I avoid answering that question as it seems since the late 90's all groups are influenced by the groups that are "hip" to be influenced by now and well...... most of don't sound anything like their heros anyway. We don't sound anything like our heros either. I think we have managed to get a very distinct Trashcan Darlings sound and I doubt we'd be able to agree on a few main influences as we don't agree on much when it comes to taste in music. Strange? has always been more in tune with what is going on at the moment while I'm still exploring more of what I missed in the past. But that's the way Keith and Mick do it too so it can't be bad, can it..... Strange? Agree on that,still I guess you might say that we've always admired bands from different underground scenes, and none of us really care if the bands and artist we like sell hundred copies or millions, as long as we think they're good.. Of course we like a lot of the same music, but we also find pleasure in stuff individually...

RD: what do you think of porn??

Chris: I love porn! A big fan you might say. My day job is in a porn store, so I enjoy a lot of porn on a daily basis

Strange?: Dosn't turn me on

RD: what are the girls like in norway??

Chris: The girls in Norway are famous for being HOT and they are. I bet Swedish girls are more famous in the states, as Sweden is a bigger country, but when it comes to girls..... damn, they are just as nice here ...and in all the right places too.

Strange?: My girlfriend is hot, she's Norwegian, what more can I say? :)

RD: what is th state of porn there??

Chris: Quite alright really. Porn movies have been illegal here just up 'til a few months ago, but it was kinda a sleeping law and no one cared. A few cop raids on the shops a year too keep the feminists happy and that was it. Now it's finally legal. As for porn produced in Norway it still has a long way to go before it's as good as the best German, English or American productions, but they are getting there. There's a huge improvement just from the movies made today and the ones made only a year or two back.

RD: favorite groupie story Chris. There are many groupie stories. Been offered someones sister and someones girlfriend and in general a lot of fun....... but cute boys like me don't kiss and tell

RD: whats the scene like there??

Chris: The scene is great. There are a lot of really cool bands and in the last 10 years Scandinavia have produced a lot of world class bands. Not so many bands in our genera though, but definitly cool shit to look out for.

RD: any plans to come to the u.s.??

Chris: nothing is set, but we hope to make it next year Strange? We would love to.. We keep getting offerings, so as sonn as we can make it out financially, we'll go!!

RD: tell us what you have out??

RD: who is packin the most "heat"(in their pants that is??)

Chris: I can't remember. We're usually all way drunk when we measure that and we usually compete about who packs least heat.

RD: whos the biggest slut in th band

Chris: At the moment it's Q. Ken Rockers

RD: does makeup help rockers get laid??

Chris: Yes. Everybody thinks girls look better than boys, even girls ..... so naturally make-up helps

RD: what do you think of razordolls

Chris: Didn't get to see a lot without joining, but from what I saw it seems like a cool site.

RD: whos yer fave razordoll

Chris: Too many good ones to pick just one and I guess I would have needed to see a full photo set to answer that properly

RD: what norwigian bands should we look out for??

Chris: There are lots of good ones Turbonegro is getting quite popular now. Silver, Carburetors, Bronco Busters, Mormones, Backstreet Girls.... the list goes on.

Strange?: I could add Case of Pride, The Aasmunds, Jack the Rip Off and many more, and so far we've only mentioned 'rock' bands.. The list is very long which of course is very cool

RD: have you opened for any bigger bands??who??

Chris: A lot! Strange? can probably answer that better than me as I'm not so good at keeping track of stuff like that

Strange?: Depends on what one mean with 'big'.. We've always prefered to play with bands we like tahn bands that just happen to be 'hot' at the moment.. Some of the bands we've shared stage with includes: U.K. Subs, Marky Ramone & The Intruders, Anti Nowhere League, Mad Sin, Demented are go!, The Vibrators and The Real McKenzies

RD: fave horror flix??

Chris: For me that's definitly the Omen triology and especially the second one

Strange?: I have always enjoyed Horrormovies.. Hard to pick just one... Maybe Fulcios 'The Beyond'

RD: how would you like to die??



Chris: The song says On A Chemical High and even if I'm not so keen on that anymore I still haven't found a better way to go

Strange?: I don't want to die at all.. Never ever
