Review of "Spitalfield's "Better Than Knowning Where You Are" (Victory Records - 2007)" Done by Natalie
When I first I picked up this album, I honestly had no idea what sort
of band this was going to
be. I had never heard one song of their's, nor had I even heard of
them. But after listening to
Spitalfield's newest album release, "Better than Knowing Where You
Are", I was impressed. It
could be because emo/pop-punk music is a guilty pleasure of mine. Or it
could just be that they
are good.
Each song sounds different enough from the rest to keep you wanting to
listen to the rest of
the CD. The dual guitars, the animated drumming, & the superb vocals
bring you in, making you
feel what each song is about. And there are absolutely no shortcomings
in the lyric department
either.
To top the album off, the song "Novacaine", is amazing. Melodic &
emotive, it is surely not
something that was to be expected after listening to the first 10
songs. However, the surprize
that this song brings is nothing but a positive one.
All in all, I think this is probably one of the better albums I have
heard in a long while.
Spitalfield has a lot of potential to gain more popularity, provided
they don't get caught up
in trying to fit in with what is mainstream. But I think they may have
their minds in the right
place, & that leaves me on the lookout for their next collaboration.
If you want to see these guys in concert I suggest you do it now, because unfortunately they have decided to stop playing
So catch them on their last tour EVER if you can!!!
Natalie
