Review of "Nights Like These "The Faithless" (Victory Records - 2007)" Done by Natalie
The first thing that came to mind upon reviewing the titles of the
songs that Nights Like
These had to offer was that they were yet another hardcore band,
chasing the dream of
"making it". But the moment the actual album, "The Faithless", started
playing, I wasn't sure
what to make of my intial assumption. I heard metal, & not decent
metal.
As a whole, I have found it rather hard to say a whole lot of good
about this band. The lack
of rhythm & unintelligible lyrics made this CD a tough pill to swallow.
One song blends
into another, leaving you wondering when the last song ended & the next
song began. It proves
to be more frustrating than entertaining.
The one positive thing that I was able to pull from the attempts in
this album was that the
drummer has legitimate talent. The double bass drum, which is apparent
in every song, was
downright hellacious. And I don't think that it would sound too
far-fetched to say that this
may very well be the backbone of the group.
Overall, I felt a lack of growing room with this band. There may not be
a follow-up album,
but I don't think that would surprise most anyone.
9.5/10
